My name is NOT Franny. It is a screen name--I stole it from Salinger because when I was much younger, I felt sort of attached to her. And though I identify with her sometimes there a number of things I do not enjoy: 1)people who send me quotes from the book that remind them of me AND 2)people who IM me or e-mail me and assume that I am their aunt fran, grandmother fran, bestfriend fran, and then will not leave me alone when I tell them otherwise. So read any one or all of these below and you will see that I am NOT your aunt Fran thank you.

• A really scathing piece on Joan Didion the best line of which is one that suggests that in the worst circumstances Franny would have grown up to be Maria Wyeth. I happen to be a Didion fan and I think Maria Wyeth is a scream and one needs a very well defined sense of camp humor to appreciate most of Didion's work. Thanks LordOuch for sending this to me.
